Bill Payments & Top-Ups
- Your bill, payment card, or invoice with the barcode or reference number
- Cash or card to pay
- For gas/electricity top-ups: your smart meter key or payment card
- For council tax: your council tax reference number
- For TV Licence: your licence number
Keep your receipt — it's your proof of payment and may take 1–2 working days to show on your account.
What bills can I pay at the counter?
Any bill with a barcode can usually be paid here — gas and electricity bills, water bills, council tax, TV Licence, parking fines, penalty charge notices, and some rent payments via housing associations. Show us the barcode (on paper or on your phone screen) and we'll scan and process it.
Can I pay my council tax here?
Yes. Bring your council tax bill or a payment slip with a barcode and we'll process it over the counter. Cash and debit card are accepted. You'll receive a printed receipt as proof of payment.
Can I top up my prepayment gas or electricity meter here?
Yes. Bring your prepayment meter key, card, or fob and the amount you'd like to top up. Top-ups are processed instantly and available from as little as £5. We support all major prepayment energy suppliers including British Gas, E.ON, EDF, and Scottish Power.
Can I top up my mobile phone here?
Yes. We offer top-ups for all major UK mobile networks including EE, O2, Vodafone, Three, Giffgaff, Tesco Mobile, and iD Mobile. Just tell us your network and the amount.
Can I pay with a credit card for bill payments?
No. Bill payments at the Post Office counter are accepted by cash or debit card only. Credit cards are not accepted for bill payments.
